WE often look at our sporting expats through rose-coloured glasses. It's not uncommon to make them out to be superstars in a foreign land when in fact they may be decent athletes but largely anonymous.

One of many trying to live out their dreams of playing sport for a living.

Then you have Brad Wing. If one Aussie is on the road to stardom, it's the American football punter from Louisiana State University (LSU) in the US.

Don't believe me. Check out the profiles on the websites of ESPN and Sports Illustrated, the two giants of the American sporting media. Even the financial bible, the Wall Street Journal, has profiled the 20-year-old who hails from Sandringham, in the south-east suburbs of Melbourne. Still don't believe me. What about the rap song dedicated to him on YouTube encouraging people to do the "Brad Wing" dance? More on that later.

Now he has a chance to take his fame to another level in the National Championship Game when LSU play rivals Alabama in a match that will feature another Aussie in man mountain Jesse Williams from Queensland.
