Ukraine

THe FAFU currently has three existing leagues: a senior league consisting of nine teams, a youth league with four teams, and a flag football league with eight teams.

THe FAFU plans to develop American football in the Ukraine among children ages 13 to 19-years-old and aims to create juniors in youth teams by introducing them to the game of American football at a young age. By doing so, they can be physically and mentally prepared to join the Senior League.

The creation of these teams will lead to an extensive schedule of games that has already commenced. 209 saw the introduction of an Under-15 Flag Football Championship in and an Under-19 Ukraine Junior Championship. The best players in these leagues will then represent the Ukraine in European and global competition.

The FAFU's future plans include expanding the number of teams in each league, to make them more competitive and to help support the teams financially and logistically by supplying each team with its own unifore and specialized equipment. The FAFU would like to see the leagues participating in international competition, both European and globally. Another key goal of the FAFU is to maximize public awareness of American football in the hope of drawing larger audiences and a wider range of interest from the citizens of Ukraine.
