Great Britain

The British American Football Association (BAFA) is the national governing body for the sport of American Football in Great Britain.  Through the member bodies, BAFA offers participation for both the contact and non-contact versions of the sport.

BAFA is responsible for:

BAFCA (British American Football Coaches Association)
BAFL (British American Football League)
BAFRA (British American Football Referees Association)
BUAFL (British Universities American Football League)

When the Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay, London-born wide receiver Marvin Allen became the first truly British-trained player to win a Super Bowl ring.  Although other British born players (Scott McCready, Patriots; Lawrence Tynes, Giants; Usi Umenyiora, Giants) have won the coveted prize, none were previously successful members of a BAFA team.  Allen helped the London Olympians to win four UK championships before playing in NFL Europe and on the practice squads of Pittsburgh and the Miami Dolphins.
