Fifteen national selections will fight for the continental crown at the forthcoming European Flag Football Championships, which is taking place in Madrid, from 7th to 10th of September.

The competition consists of two tournaments – male and female – and participating nations, in order of the European ranking, are:

  • Male tournament

Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Georgia.

  • Female tournament

Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic.

Group’s matches will be played on 7th, 8th and 9th September, and the playoffs, finals and other placement matches are scheduled for 10th September.

The Spanish Federation of American Football (FEFA, Federación Española de Fútbol Americano) once again will organize the Flag Football European Championships, after very successful tournament in 2015, in Pinto.

The IFAF Europe CA Board made that decision at the meeting in February earlier this year.

As a quick reminder, two years ago Austria played in both men and women finals, where they took the gold in women finals against France, while in men finals Denmark managed to beat Austria and become the European Flag Football Champion.
