As it was previously announced, the first ever Beach Football World Championship in 2017 will take place in Costa Rica. Now, preparations go on and it is known that the competition is going to be organized in the beginning of November in Tamarindo.
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) has signed contract with the American Football Federation of Costa Rica (Federación de Fútbol Americano de Costa Rica, FEFACR) and all important and necessary application documents have been sent to the federation members.
The deadline for application is May 31st 2017.
The rules and regulations of the IFAF Beach Flag World Championship have also been released. The competition will be organized in three categories: men, women and mixed.
Tournament in the men’s category is intended for men over 18 years old. Ladies over 16 years old can participate in the women’s tournament.
All teams will play 4 vs. 4. The effective playing time is 2×15 minutes for Championship rounds.
Tamarindo is a town and district located on the Nicoya Peninsula on the Northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the Province of Guanacaste. The district has a population of 6.869 although the town itself is about 500. It can swell to 5.000 people or more during the tourist season and during special holidays. The main attractions are surfing and eco-tourism.
